The highest point in the park, standing at an elevation of 6,512 feet is Cuyamaca Peak. It is the second highest point in San Diego County. Camping is available for rv's, tents and some primitive sites are also available. There are meadows, streams, and small waterfalls. There are more than 100 miles of trails that are open for hiking, biking and equestrians.

USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum
The USS Midway was the longest serving aircraft carrier in U.S. Navy history. When commissioned on September 10, 1945, a week after the end of World War II, the USS Midway (CVB 41) was the largest aircraft carrier ever put to sea. She is now the largest museum of her kind, housing over 45 restored & vintage aircraft. Midway's final journey was on January 10, 2004, when she was towed across San Diego bay to her new home at the navy pier in downtown San Diego.
The Palomar Observatory, which is located within the Cleveland National Forest on Palomar Mountain in north San Diego County at an elevation of 5,500 feet above sea level, is one of the world's most famous astronomical observatories. Open 363 days yearly, except for in hazardous traveling weather, it is a perfect destination for a day trip with the entire family.
